Reflections are offered one Wednesday evening each month 7.30pm – 8.15pm
The gift of St Maelrhys Church is the gift of contemplation.
Standing alone, set back from the sea cliffs at Porth Ysgo, the quiet simplicity of its interior, focused on the clear East window, enables communion with the exterior world of creation and the interior world of prayerful reflection.
Reflections by candlelight deepens that contemplative experience, through music, poetry, and wisdom writings drawn from various sources.
Led by Susan Fogarty a Commissioned Worship Leader with a ‘Ministry through Poetry’ these events are more spiritual and non-liturgical, which may suit people of different faiths or none.
During the winter months, the time and days can vary to make it more accessible. Click here for the dates of Reflections.
Llofft RS Thomas, a small upper room, also lends itself to contemplation. The shelves are lined with old books and photographs of RS Thomas, the former poet- priest, his wife and son. You can sit here and read his poetry or listen to recordings of him reading his own poetry, whilst enjoying a hot drink, gazing through the window at the sacred island of Bardsey known as Enlli in Welsh.
